Background

Supporting quality management with AI, one workflow at a time

A major medtech manufacturer was building an AI assistant to help quality teams find and act on records faster across its operating companies. As a UX research intern at Grand Studio, I supported 14 rounds of user testing on this one product, each focused on a different feature, handling note-taking, sorting, and synthesis support. This brief spotlights one round: testing AI search in a live dev environment, where I built a note-taking template and tagging scheme to keep 7 sessions across 4 regions comparable.

The Challenge

Search had to flex for every role, region, and task

One feature of the tool was dynamic search, a highly customized task that varies by experts in different roles across OpCos and regions. With multiple roles and departments relying on the system, the challenge was making search robust and flexible enough to support a wide range of tasks and information needs.

My Role

My role in this research effort was support — not leading sessions or driving synthesis independently. Specifically, I built the team's note-taking system, tagged and organized the resulting data, and shadowed synthesis to help fill gaps.
